Living Building Challenge Community

The Living Building Challenge Community...

is a group of individuals that represent Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley, united by a common passion for Deep Green building. Our community continues to grow to be inclusive to anyone interested in the built environment.

  • We seek broader inspiration and collaboration with peers and leaders from around the world. We facilitate educational series and events within Green Building United to teach and learn from each other.
  • We participate in the creation of living buildings, sites, and communities within our region.
  • We advocate for a deeper approach to and dialogue on sustainable development in our workplaces, governments, educational institutions, and media.
  • Together we grow, share, and act upon our knowledge and expertise to help move our community towards a greater balance with nature.
  • We believe an ecologically restorative, socially just, and beautiful built environment is not just good for the planet, but it is good for those who live here too.

Volunteer Opportunities

Upper Dublin High School Workshop

Interested green building professionals would meet with Upper Dublin High School students for a 2-hour workshop at the school in April 2019. Volunteers should be able to talk to high school students about green building strategies, but deep Living Building Challenge knowledge is not required.

If interested, please contact Drew Lavine  and Jason Curtis

Demonstration Project

Drawing, writing, graphic design, and other support is needed to help complete the LBC Community Demonstration Project's work from 2018. The goal is to turn the insights that were gained from workshops into a deliverable.

If interested, please contact Wolf Arendt and Nina Dudas

Living Building Challenge Advocacy

We are starting to work with a group of volunteers to spread knowledge about deep green building using LBC as a framework and could use help finalizing logistics. Our current approach is to target real estate professionals, contractors and their supply chain, corporations, and education institutions.

If interested, please contact Michelle Jordan and Kristen Suzda

Living Building Challenge Events

If you have limited availability but still want to volunteer, opportunities are available around event planning. This may include helping with planning logistics, or day-of event assistance.

If interested, please cntact Chris Lee and Brendan McGrath
