Building Science Horror Stories

Wed, 4/26/2023 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm

15th & Walnut - Center City Philadelphia

Laura Blau of BluPath Design and Shannon Pendleton of Sanderson Sustainable Design will discuss their experiences with building science gone wrong. These aren’t your average stories – these are something much more horrific. From mold, mildew, and destruction - oh my! -  this will be a presentation you do not want to miss!

Session Description:

We will look at real-life examples of building envelope failures resulting from ignorance of building science principles. The range of examples will include common code violations in standard construction to error and omission and the dangers of cherry-picking Passive House Standard means and methods. We will discuss ways to avoid these errors of judgment, and as Joe Lstiburek would say- “Don’t be stupid! There is no such thing as a free Thermodynamic Lunch.”
