Community Climate Resilience Event

Thu, 8/5/2021 - 11:00am - 1:00pm

Climate change impacts Philadelphia neighborhoods. Resilience matters.

According to the City of Philadelphia's Growing Stronger: Toward a climate-ready Philadelphia,  our changing climate shows that residents and infrastructure will be negatively impacted by:

  • Increased frequency and severity of heat waves
  • Increased frequency and severity of storm events
  • Flooding and other damage from rising sea levels

Green Building United and Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations (PACDC) are partnering together once again to present our third Community Climate Resilience Event.

This event is intended to be an opportunity to outline the risks, challenges, and opportunities to achieving community resilience against climate impacts in Philadelphia.

Join us to learn how neighborhood-based organizations are taking action to increase climate resilience, reduce the impacts of climate change, and create equitable, affordable, and livable communities.

Cheyenne Flores from City of Philadelphia's Office of Sustainability will provide an introduction of climate resilience and what some of the risks to Philadelphia are including the comparative energy burden and heat disparities between neighborhoods.

Then we will move into a panel discussion about specific aspects of community climate resilience, led by community-based organizations that are doing exemplary work.

Panelists include:

We invite urban planners, project managers, developers, community groups, and any interested community members to participate. No background knowledge or skillset is required - all are welcome!
