LBC Demonstration Project: Unifying Lens Workshop

Tue, 10/16/2018 - 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Bartram's Garden, 5400 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19143

What is the foundation for a successful Living Affordable Infill Housing? How do the questions of equity, beauty, happiness and health in our built environment provide the grounds for a thriving Living Community?

With these questions that lie at the root of our common well-being we will conclude the public part of the 2018 Demonstration Project.

We invite you to the last of this year's workshops in which we have investigated affordable housing in Philadelphia through the lens of the Living Building Challenge. During each workshop, we continue to ask - Can we build regenerative, resourceful, healthy, net-positive water, and net-positive energy rowhouses that are also affordable?

In this workshop you will hear inspiring stories and learn proven strategies for implementing the LBC Petals of Equity, Beauty, and Health & Happiness, from an amazing group of speakers:

Maram Moushmoush will open the evening with "A Sanctuary in the City" presentation in which she asks, "How do we change the concept from making a House a Home to making it a Sanctuary?" We spend 90% of our time indoors, going from work to home, and vice versa. Our homes need to become a restorative emotional experience prioritizing our physiological well-being.

Shawn Hesse of ILFI will give us his unique insights into Equity Petal. Craig Johnson of Interpret Green will inspire us with his personal experience with Intentional Communities. Justin DiBerardinis of Bartram's Garden will speak on their own amazing efforts and successes in engaging their local community in the planning, operations and events at the Garden.

Come celebrate with us! We invite you to participate and experience Living Building Challenge principles and the fun of designing challenging projects with a group of enthusiasts, whether you are an urban planner, architect, contractor, homeowner, landscape architect, educator, interior designer, engineer, or just interested in sustainable design.

Have a seat at the table! Food and drinks will be provided.
