This year, we partnered with Upper Dublin High School and began a yearlong Project/Problem Based Learning (PBL) Environmental Science course. The class strayed away from learning in a typical high school classroom environment with worksheets, lectures, tests, and quizzes. Instead, PBL connects science with innovation, team building, and forward-thinking classroom skills that students will use for the rest of their lives.
The PBL course is based off the criteria for the Living Building Challenge; with a total of seven petals composed of 20 imperatives, different approaches have been taken to meet the needs of each. The class designed an effective structure for themselves so that by the end of the year, students will have created a complete concept design plan for a local environmental education center in Upper Dublin, Robbins Park, that qualifies for the Living Building Challenge and becomes the 23rd Living Building in the world. Join us and feel inspired as they present their hard work!
Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
