Atendees will learn about how Kitchen & Associates provided comprehensive architectural and engineering design services for this joint project between Sacred Heart Hospital in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania and Pennrose Properties. Now complete, Sacred Heart Residences offers Allentown seniors a four-story residential apartment building, with 61 new units of a affordable senior living.
The project also takes full advantage of its proximity to Sacred Heart Hospital, ultimately providing a variety of on-site amenities and medical services for residents. The new development has been fully embraced by Allentown City Council and is expected to be a tremendous asset to the Center City district of downtown Allentown.
This project is an Enterprise Green Community and represents one of the 1st Multifamily Passive House High Rises to be built in the State of Pennsylvania.
The tour of Sacred Heart Residences will include a short talk about the architectural and system design process with a focus on the detailing of the Passive House requirements. On the tour we will visit the community rooms, mechanical spaces, management offices, and roof top deck.
Light fare will be provided. Event is worth 1 AIA LU-HSW (certificate can be provided for GBCI self-reporting).
As a Q/C Field Inspector with the New Jersey Clean Energy Program, Neil provided inspection services for energy efficient projects applying for incentives in the State of New Jersey. As part of the team that ran the agency’s New Construction Program, he advised on the program’s technical guidelines and implementation. While with Habitat for Humanity, Neil helped build five of the most energy efficient homes in the State of New Jersey at the time—Harrison Green, and led crews of volunteers in the construction of fifteen new Energy Star Homes in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Since joining Kitchen & Associates, Neil has focused his expertise exclusively within the firm’s Energy Group performing critical energy-related tasks including the reviews of construction documentation for energy compliance, the compilation of preliminary HERS models for energy analysis, final inspections for HERS ratings and Energy Star certification, as well as the complete and final HERS models required for final applications for certifications and incentives. Among his projects for K&A are Passive house certification for Capital Flats 2 and Energy Star Certifications for Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity and Harvard Printing Project.
