Roles and Responsibilities
The Building Energy Program Manager will manage and provide support for the City of Philadelphia’s Building Energy Programs and assist with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s regional benchmarking initiative. The position will entail the following:
- Manage and update CRM database (BEAM) to track building energy performance metrics;
- Support communications and outreach efforts for the City of Philadelphia’s Building Energy Benchmarking Program and Building Energy Performance Program;
- Produce educational guides and resources for use by building owners to support their compliance with the City’s Building Energy Programs;
- Provide one-on-one technical support and assistance to building owners required to comply with Building Energy Programs;
- Support the Regional Energy Benchmarking Program and assist with outreach and education.
Skills & Qualifications
The desired candidate will have either a degree related to sustainability, urban planning, data analysis, building design/architecture, energy management, or commensurate professional experience, and should have skills and/or experience in the following areas:
- Ability to accurately track communications and data in a CRM – including data quality assurance, management/cleaning and analysis and communication tracking;
- Experience working with imperfect data sets, including handling inconsistencies;
- Experience with limited data analysis for annual reports and visualizations;
- Experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager or other utility bill management software;
- Experience managing or working on programs or projects related to climate change adaptation, sustainability or environmental planning;
- Experience translating technical requirements into easily understandable language for a wide audience;
- Experience supporting educational events and collaborating with multiple partners to bring programs and events to fruition;
- Ability to be a creative and supportive team member who can assist with varied tasks as needed.
Potential Growth Opportunities
Green Building United’s team is small and collaborative, and this position may also assist with additional programs and tasks as needed. These could include:
- Supporting the implementation of the Climate Ready Capital Project program and the Green Building Hub;
- Supporting GBU efforts around the Housing Equity, Retrofit and Electrification for Climate Justice (HERE4ClimateJustice) Coalition;
- Supporting advocacy and policy efforts;
- Supporting the planning and execution of events to support GBU’s membership;
- Supporting communications and outreach efforts.

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $58,000 – $68,000 commensurate with experience. This is a hybrid position requiring some in office days at our office in Center City, Philadelphia. Benefits include:
