Kickoff Charrette | February 12, 2020

Green Building United’s Passive House Community kicked-off their 2020 Demonstration Project with a standing room only, interactive charette that introduced the project partner – Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) – and took a cursory dive into Habitat’s Oxford Green Project drawings. The breakout groups explored how Passive House principles can be applied to increase the Habitat home’s energy efficiency, comfort, and resilience.

Through this exploration, they identified design, material, and construction methodologies that will inform and spark deeper investigations as the year-long partnership progresses. Notes and take-aways from Charrette 1 have been catalogued and will be reviewed at upcoming charrettes. The long-term goal is to provide Habitat with a Pathway to Passive House for the homes that they build for and with their clients that includes energy models, budgets, and sketch level drawings.

During the April charette, we will take a deeper dive into examining the project’s systems using a Passive House lens.

Stay tuned - we'll be adding all charrette recaps to this blog!
