As we wrap up 2025, Green Building United (GBU) is launching our Grow a Greener Region campaign with a goal to raise $35,000 before the new year. These funds will directly support our education, advocacy, and strategic initiatives in 2026.
Why Give Now?
GBU is rooted in resilience. For nearly 25 years, we’ve led the charge for sustainable buildings and equitable climate solutions. Now, we are facing some of the most difficult headwinds in recent memory. Electricity prices are soaring, slowing a key path to decarbonization. Tariffs are making construction and renovation more expensive too, and federal attacks on clean energy credits are cutting off another avenue to make the numbers work on high performance buildings. Since our founding in 2001, our organization has grown and adapted — even in the face of federal setbacks.
This month, we’re launching the Better Buildings Hub (BBH) — a resource for building owners, residents, and community partners to address rising energy costs, poor air quality, and aging properties across greater Philadelphia. In 2026, we’ll continue nurturing the seeds we’ve planted to ensure its long-term growth.
Through next summer, the Northeast Wilding project in Delaware will expand native and pollinator-friendly habitats in homeowner yards, street tree installations, city parks, and privately owned community spaces. This program serves as an engagement tool, while our Northeast Rising community-led flooding initiative in Northeast Wilmington continues to pressure decision makers on flood remediation.
This year, we’re facing a major challenge: the loss of more than $100,000 to advance our green building policy and program implementation efforts. But with your help, we can keep moving forward. Your donation is an investment in local climate action, healthier schools and homes, and protection from increasingly severe weather events.
These are a few of the many initiatives taking root at GBU, but we need your support to keep them growing. We could not have achieved our milestones in 2025, or laid the foundation for 2026, without your generous support in last year’s campaign.
