Through a unique partnership between Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Cambium Carbon, and PowerCorps, a new mill in Fairmount Park’s Organic Recycling Center will turn Philadelphia’s fallen and removed trees into valuable lumber products that can be sold to generate income to fund more trees! Come tour this new facility, and learn directly from leaders in each organization on how these three groups have come together to make change for our trees and our city, and how you can turn Philly trees into assets on your projects.
Attendees are invited to arrive at 5pm for networking over snacks & non-alcoholic drinks ahead of the tour starting at 5:30pm.

Zac is a Landscape Architect by training, but has spent the better part of a decade working with the specifier community to eliminate the use of tropical hardwoods and instead utilizing the most sustainable wood in the world. Now with Cambium, he leads business development for the specifier community across the eastern US, helping design teams divert tree waste from the landfill and utilize this material in the built environment to embody carbon for decades to come.
Carlos has been a part of the PowerCorpsPHL family since 2015 when he started as a crew leader supporting young Philadelphians looking for quality opportunities for personal and professional development, community engagement through service, and career pathways in environmental sustainability. Currently, Carlos is the Director of Social Enterprise Operations overseeing the installment and operation of the Philadelphia Reforestation Hub- Urban Wood Sawmill, a private non-profit partnership designed to support the city’s goal to lower wood waste, improve its tree canopy cover and provide training for PowerCorpsPHL members interested in sawmill operation and related fields in tree care.
