What do a high school teacher, outdoor apparel company, Passive House home, community park, and the tallest building in Philadelphia have in common?

All have demonstrated leadership in sustainability and green building in our region!

Last week we gathered for the sold-out 2019 Groundbreaker Awards on the 27th floor of the incredible Comcast Technology Center, enjoying live music, a delectable array of food, open bar, and of course, the views of downtown Philadelphia as the sun set and gave way to city night life. More than 300 people packed the space for lively conversation as we came together to recognize green building and sustainability leadership in the region.

The resounding message from the evening was one of hope…

Hope for a future where sustainable, green building is second nature.

Hope for a future where sustainability is woven into the fabric of K-12 and higher education.

Hope for a future where companies, brands, organizations, and people continue to celebrate and share best practices that improve the built environment for society and the planet.

Over the years we have had the privilege of honoring many projects, individuals, and organizations spanning our 10-county footprint, all examples of groundbreaking leadership. The people and projects demonstrate our shared commitment to improving health, saving money, and reducing environmental and climate impact. We are proud and inspired to witness, time and again, how finalists and awardees propel dialogue and action in our region and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our partners, members, and sponsors for making what we do possible! And congratulations again to this year’s Awardees, whose work embodies Green Building United’s vision of a sustainable, healthy, built environment for all.
