This year, Green Building United celebrates 25 years of impact, and the community that made it possible.
“It began with an invitation to anyone who was interested to
get together for an evening of discussion about green building.”
— Sandy Wiggins, Founding Board Member
The Delaware Green Building Council started as a small gathering of just 15 people at Carpenters’ Hall with a shared curiosity and a hunger to exchange ideas. Today, Green Building United continues to bring people together to shape a more sustainable, healthy, and resilient built environment for all.
On November 19, we’ll celebrate this milestone at the Groundbreaker Awards—honoring the projects, people, and partnerships in the region that represent the best of our collective impact. To honor this community’s diverse work since 2001, we are capturing and sharing the stories that brought us here.
Help Us Tell the Story
We’re gathering memories from across the GBU community. Any moments, big or small, that impacted you, your work, or your passion for sustainability are welcome!
We invite you to share:
- A memory, anecdote, or experience with GBU
- A project you’re proud of
- A “then & now” transformation
- A milestone or defining moment
- A reflection on GBU’s impact on your work or community
Your individual stories make up a powerful collective story that we are excited to share in a 25 years of Impact report later this year. We are grateful to those who have been involved since the beginning as we continue to grow our membership and expand the GBU network.
Thank you for being a part of our story!
