Green Building United’s Passive House Community is excited to continue its new 10 Minutes of Airtight Insights series, a monthly spotlight featuring practitioners, designers, and homeowners sharing rapid-fire lessons from the field.

At our October 14 meeting, Steve Hessler of New Energy Works presented “Biogenic Panelization: Turning Layers into Systems,” exploring how natural, biogenic materials can help projects achieve Passive House levels of performance while optimizing both embodied and operational carbon. Using case studies, modeled data, and project visualizations, Steve demonstrated how a systemized, panelized approach can support durable, moisture-managed, high-performance buildings.

Coming Next Month: Learn about Delaware’s first Phius-certified homes with project leader Norm Horn. Recently named a 2026 Groundbreaker Awards nominee for Residential & Mixed-Use Development, this innovative affordable housing project in Dover demonstrates that high-performance building standards can be both achievable and financially accessible. The session will explore the project’s exceptional airtightness results, certification journey, and the role it is playing in reshaping the future of affordable housing in Delaware.
