2017 Sustainability Symposium

The Philadelphia 2030 District was one of the featured sessions at DVGBC’s Sustainability Symposium on May 5 at Penn State at the Navy Yard. The 90-minute discussion brought together diverse perspectives to provide an overview of the Philadelphia 2030 District and its potential as well as case study examples on benchmarking and the value of energy conservation and efficiency. Thanks again to our panelists, pictured above!

April Meeting Recap

On April 12, the Exploratory Committee of the Philadelphia 2030 District met to discuss the district’s water goals. Philadelphia, like Seattle, is interested in pursuing a blended metric that tracks both reductions in potable water consumption and stormwater management. We heard from area experts on the topic including Drexel University’s Franco Montalto, PE, PhD who presented on trends in water consumption and population growth as well as findings from a paper on harvesting rooftop runoff for residential toilet flushing and Jessica Noon, AICP, LEED APfrom the Philadelphia Water Department who presented on the City’s green stormwater infrastructure goals and current incentives for new development and stormwater retrofits.

Thanks again to Drexel University for the use of their space and the refreshments!
