Eco Materials Site Tour: Transforming Construction Waste into Valuable Resources

1 AIA LU | HSW, 1 GBCI CEU, and 1 LA CES HSW PDH pending
Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of Eco Materials – an innovative soil washing and aggregate recycling facility that is redefining sustainable materials management in the Philadelphia region.
During this tour of the 2025 Sustainable Design & Planning Groundbreaker Award winner, attendees will learn how contaminated and excess soils that would traditionally be landfilled are transformed using into valuable construction materials through advanced soil washing technology. By recovering clean, reusable aggregates and manufactured sands, Eco Materials keeps resources in circulation, reduces reliance on virgin materials, and demonstrates how waste can become a valuable asset.
Participants will explore the facility’s closed-loop water system, observe the processing equipment in operation, and gain insight into how circular economy principles reduce waste, conserve natural resources, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and support more sustainable construction and redevelopment practices.
The tour will also highlight the regulatory framework surrounding soil reuse, the environmental benefits of recycled aggregates, and real-world applications for these materials on infrastructure, brownfield redevelopment, and commercial construction projects.
Please note: BYO Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if possible; PPE will be available on-site if needed. Closed-toed shoes required, steel-toed boots preferred.
